The Vagina Monologues, Eve Ensler’s Obie award-winning whirlwind tour of a forbidden zone, introduces a wildly divergent gathering of female voices, including a six-year-old girl, a septuagenarian New Yorker, a vagina workshop participant, a woman who witnesses the birth of her granddaughter, a Bosnian survivor of rape, and a feminist happy to have found a man who liked to look at it.

Starring Elaine Bernstein, Molly Brennan, Kathleen Carthy, Retreat Director Loretta Davis, Valerie diLorenzo, Carol Ann DiPirro, Dr. Leslie Duroseau, Rebecca Edana, Legislator Bridget Fleming, Amy Kirwin, Kristen Lowman, Amayrani Martinez, Kate Mueth, Cindy Pease Roe, and Susan Stout. The Retreat’s mission is to provide safety, shelter and support for victims of domestic abuse and to break the cycle of family violence. In pursuit of that mission, The Retreat provides direct services to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault, their families and the Eastern Long Island community through a 24-hour bilingual hotline, counseling, legal advocacy, prevention education, and emergency shelter. Violence prevention education and other supportive programs are available in Nassau and Suffolk Counties.  MORE INFO

Expanding the field of visual tropes, methods and materials, the 23 female artists on view will offer an artistic spectrum that ranges from the sublime to the utilitarian, from expressionism to precision, and from humor to drama. Curated by Janet Goleas.


Monday Feb 26 - Sunday May 20

With Artist-in-Residence Andrea Cote, the public will participate in collaborative printmaking and video. Participants will come together over the course of two months in a series of movement and art-making workshops culminating in a performance and large-scale tapestry.
