A production by Dr. Georgette Grier-Key, Historian & Preservationist
presented with Southampton Arts Center, Southampton Historical Museum, Rogers Memorial Library & the League of Women Voters of The Hamptons
Join host Dr. Georgette Grier-Key for this special celebration of the
centennial of women’s right to vote in New York State. Passages will be read
from the writings of influential women in history, including Susan B. Anthony,
Betty Shabazz, Elizabeth Cady Stanton, Coretta Scott King, and more.
Panels from a statewide exhibition, VOTES FOR WOMEN, will be on display.
Expanding the field of visual tropes, methods and materials, the 23 female artists on view will offer an artistic spectrum that ranges from the sublime to the utilitarian, from expressionism to precision, and from humor to drama. Curated by Janet Goleas.
With Artist-in-Residence Andrea Cote, the public will participate in collaborative printmaking and video. Participants will come together over the course of two months in a series of movement and art-making workshops culminating in a performance and large-scale tapestry.
