JAZZ AT LINCOLN CENTER Jazz for Young People presents
SAXOPHONIST/ VOCALIST CAMILLE THURMAN & BAND
Lincoln Center’s popular Jazz for Young People Concert returns to SAC for another inspiring hour-long narrated concert, using warmth and humor to introduce key musical concepts and other jazz fundamentals. This series is designed for all ages, primarily 6 and up. Performers to be announced.
JALC’s Jazz for Young People on Tour program brings traveling professional jazz ensembles into communities to lead interactive performances for students and families. Based on the Wynton Marsalis and Sandra Day O’Connor Let Freedom Swing: Conversations on Jazz and Democracy curriculum, JFYP on Tour illustrates the ideals of American democracy through the lens of America’s greatest and most democratic art form — jazz.
This concert will take place on our outdoor stage – bring chairs and blankets and picnic on the lawn!
*All outdoor events are rain or shine! In the event of rain the concert will be held indoors in the theater.
With Artist-in-Residence Andrea Cote, the public will participate in collaborative printmaking and video. Participants will come together over the course of two months in a series of movement and art-making workshops culminating in a performance and large-scale tapestry.
Curated by Paton Miller, the now fourth year of this popular exhibition continues to celebrate 29 new artists, honors the collectors who have supported them, and marks Southampton Arts Center as a home where the East End arts scene can continue to thrive.
