Jazz on the Steps presented by the Jam Session returns for another summer of live music in front of Southampton Arts Center. This week’s session features Yacouba Sissoko on Kora.
The Jam Session presents an eclectic concert series with musicians from our local and global community. The performances will be a world class experience especially designed to showcase the diversity of Jazz, appealing to adults and children alike. The lineup will feature new and old favorites including Bill O’Connell, Ada Rovatti, Richie Scollo, Charlie Lopresto, Morris Goldberg, Yacouba Sissoko, Mark Marino, John Ludlow, and series organizer Claes Brondal.
These informal concerts on the front steps of the Southampton Arts Center will take place every Sunday from noon to 2 pm from June 25 through September 3. All are welcome and reservations are not required.
Expanding the field of visual tropes, methods and materials, the 23 female artists on view will offer an artistic spectrum that ranges from the sublime to the utilitarian, from expressionism to precision, and from humor to drama. Curated by Janet Goleas.
With Artist-in-Residence Andrea Cote, the public will participate in collaborative printmaking and video. Participants will come together over the course of two months in a series of movement and art-making workshops culminating in a performance and large-scale tapestry.
