LIVE from SAC: Nilson Matta’s Brazilian Voyage Trio

Nilson Matta is a pioneer in the art of playing Brazilian Jazz on acoustic bass. Nilson studied at Federal University of Rio de Janeiro UFRJ, and is considered one of the greatest bassist in the world. Since moving to New York City he has performed and recorded with renowned musicians such as Yo Yo Ma, Joe Henderson, Paul Winter, Nancy Wilson, Herbie Mann, Don Pullen, Trio da Paz, Gato Barbieri, and many others. Nilson is also a 2017 Grammy nominee.

Nilson Matta’s Brazilian Voyage has been touring all over the world. Matta will be accompanied by Oriente Lopez on piano and Mauricio Zottarelli on drums. The Trio will perform Nilson’s originals mixed with Brazilian song book standards. It will literally take the audience on an exciting Brazilian Voyage!
