The winner of 3 Academy Awards including Best Picture, ROCKY tells tells the stoory of Rocky Balboa (Sylvester Stallone), a once-promising Philadelphia boxer taking nickel-and-dime bouts and running strong-arm errands for local loan sharks to survive. Everything changes thanks to Muhammad Ali-like super-boxer Apollo Creed (Carl Weathers). With the Bicentennial celebration coming up, Creed must find a “Cinderella” opponent for the big July 4th bout — some unknown whom Creed can “glorify” for a few minutes before knocking him cold. The match is supposed to be easily won by Creed, but someone forgot to tell Rocky!
With Artist-in-Residence Andrea Cote, the public will participate in collaborative printmaking and video. Participants will come together over the course of two months in a series of movement and art-making workshops culminating in a performance and large-scale tapestry.
Curated by Paton Miller, the now fourth year of this popular exhibition continues to celebrate 29 new artists, honors the collectors who have supported them, and marks Southampton Arts Center as a home where the East End arts scene can continue to thrive.
