SAC Public Art Project: Outdoor Sculpture and Art Installation

Artists include Eric Fischl, Saskia Friedrich, Alice Hope, Bryan Hunt, Laurie Lambrecht, and Steve Miller. This special installation on the east end west lawn of SAC is a collaboration between Artistic Director Amy Kirwin and Artist Eric Fischl and reflects both nature and the new normal of life during a pandemic. The intention is not only to offer an open-air experience that welcomes guests to roam freely and safely, but to draw attention to artists that use nature and humanity as an inspiration for their work.  This project will enhance our beautiful grounds for the public to enjoy while taking advantage of the property. Combining both sculpture and installation makes for a dynamic use of the landscape, and the artists chosen all have works that will be in conversation with and draw attention to the stunning natural surroundings and existing sculptural features. Five Pillars Yoga at SAC

Five Pillars has been serving the Hamptons community for the last 4 years. During this pandemic, people need yoga more than ever, not only to maintain respiratory health, but more importantly, emotional well-being. Scientists have suggested that outdoor activities where social distancing and/or mask usage is possible is the safest way to stay healthy. SAC is thrilled to partner with Five Pillars to offer daily yoga classes at 9:30 AM on our expansive grounds. This way we can ensure the safety of the students and teachers, and continue to offer the high-quality yoga that Five Pillars is known for.  All Outdoor Classes are Weather Permitting. Mats & Blocks available for purchase, or bring your own from home (no rentals/no shared props/no storage).

2020 VISION

Presented by New York Academy of Art with Southampton Arts Center. Curated by David Kratz and Stephanie Roach, and edited by Emma Gilbey Keller. Artists, writers, and creative thinkers were asked to consider three questions of critical importance: Our lives will never be the same, but what will change look like?  What do we want to keep as we rebuild? And what must we guard against? We invited these creators to express what they saw, what they felt, and what they experienced during this time of pause and reassessment, upheaval and risk, and anxiety and uncertainty.   It is our hope that 2020 Vision marks one of many beginnings in the necessary process of ‘post-traumatic growth’ and positive change for our society and our world. Note to Visitors: 2020 Vision, by design, presents multiple artists' perspectives and observations on all that has occurred in our society over the past year. Please use your discretion when visiting with children due to some mature content.
