We are thrilled to launch our first Storefront Art Project with artist Alice Hope and her new installation “Priceless”.

Located in the former Chico’s at 8 Jobs Lane, “Priceless” is a multimedia installation made with accordioned chromed coat hangers, strung can tabs, and shopping tags. So come take a stroll in the village and check out the first of a potential series of window art installations.

We are thrilled to continue the Storefront Art Project with artist and photographer Kerry Sharkey Miller and her new installation Wild Things.

Located in the former J. Crew at 84B Main Street, WILD THINGS is a photo-based installation including an experimental process with works on oxidized and hand-polished aluminum, rice paper, and handmade substrates. Subject matter includes natural elements from the local environment. The installation will change over time, so repeat visits are recommended!

So come take a stroll in the village and check out the first two window art installations at 8 Jobs Lane and now 84BMain Street!

East End Collected draws attention to the large population of artists living in the region and reflects Paton Miller’s vision of the East End as an ideal environment for artists to create work. In this sixth iteration of the popular exhibition, Miller continues with the intention of never showing the same artist twice. Since its 2015 launch, the EEC series has featured over 200 individuals. Through this exhibition, Paton Miller celebrates 34 new artists and further establishes Southampton Arts Center as a home where the East End arts scene continues to thrive.

This year we pay tribute to three East End Collected alums we lost in the past year, David Geiser (EEC1), Charles Waller (EEC2), and Shimon Okshteyn (EEC4).

The ever-growing Storefront Art Project continues with artist Miles Partington and his new installation Dublin Zoo at a window to be announced.

“Dublin Zoo” is a showing of Miles Partington’s current work. Constructed with cardboard and other common objects and colored with spray paint, he attempts to capture the gestures and patterns of some of the animals he admires most. With the continuing pandemic, and an abundance of cardboard, he found it to be a strong and malleable material; perfect for making quick impressions of the creatures. Further, stripping the top layer reveals the corrugation which resembles stripes of a zebra or a tiger. Spray paint is another material that lends itself to immediate results and allows for the capture the subtle color shifts of the animals.

Many of the animals are familiar to Miles’ work, like giraffes, alligators, whales, while some are newer additions, such as zebras and bats. Perhaps the less familiar ones will find their way into his work more often. With this series he hopes to have displayed some of the humor, beauty, and complexity that exists in the animal kingdom.
