Southampton Arts Center Announces November Programming
(Southampton, New York… August 2023) Southampton Arts Center [SAC – southamptonartscenter.org] welcomes November with Studio classes, Films, Jazz Fest, and much more. In addition to other events, SAC’s current exhibition, HEROINES OF THE ABSTRACT EXPRESSIONIST ERA, curated by Chrstina M. Strassfield continues to run throughout the month. STUDIO: Figure Drawing - Fridays, November 3, 10, 17, @ 1 PM
Working from a live model, artist Linda Capello’s figure drawing workshop will explore techniques of line, mass, gesture, proportion, and foreshortening, starting with short poses and working towards one long pose. Limited availability – registration is required.

TALK: Audrey Flack Film + Talk - Sunday, November 12 @ 2 PM
Join us for a captivating talk and movie showing featuring Audrey Flack, a pioneering artist whose work has left an indelible mark on the art world. This event will offer a unique opportunity to learn more about Audrey Flack's artistic journey and the significance of her contributions. The Q+A portion will be Rick Friedman and Dr. Charles Riley II.

FILM: Return to Sender by Mara Ahmed - Sunday, November 19 @ 2 PM
Return to Sender: Women of Color in Colonial Postcards & the Politics of Representation pushes the documentary medium in unexpected ways by opening with three contemporary South Asian American women who recreate British colonial postcards from the early 20th century. The post-screening panelists include Jeremy Dennis (Fine art photographer, Lead Artist & President of Ma's House & BIPOC Art Studio), Minerva Perez (Executive Director of Organizacion Latino-Americana of Eastern Long Island), and Brenda Simmons (Executive Director and Founder of Southampton African American Museum). They will be in conversation with filmmaker Mara Ahmed and the audience.

FILM: POLLOCK Film - Saturdsay, November 25 @ 2 PM
With Ed Harris delivering a remarkable portrayal of the artist, 'POLLOCK' offers a captivating exploration of Pollock's inner turmoil, artistic process, and the impact he had on the art world. Join us for this cinematic experience, with a special introduction by Helen Harrison, director at the Pollock-Krasner House and Study Center, who will provide unique insights into the life and art of Jackson Pollock and Lee Krasner.
