Acclaimed Author Dava Sobel to Speak at Southampton Arts Center About Her New Book on Marie Curie

Southampton, NY – January 2025 – Southampton Arts Center is honored to welcome acclaimed author and Pulitzer Prize finalist Dava Sobel for a captivating presentation of her latest book, The Elements of Marie Curie: How the Glow of Radium Lit a Path for Women in Science. This special event will take place on Monday, January 13, 2025, from 6:00-7:00 PM, offering both in-person and online ticket options.

Dava Sobel will delve into the groundbreaking discoveries of Marie Sklodowska Curie, the first woman to win a Nobel Prize and a trailblazer for women in science. Her discoveries of polonium and radium reshaped physics and chemistry while paving the way for aspiring female scientists. Sobel’s presentation will highlight Curie’s achievements, her collaborations with figures like Albert Einstein, and her enduring impact on science and humanity.

Following the presentation, Sobel will autograph copies of her book, which will be available for purchase. In-person attendees will also have the opportunity to stargaze, weather permitting, with Hamptons Observatory founding Board member Sean Tvelia.
