Southampton Arts Center to Host Mountainfilm on Tour Southampton

Film Fest Features Screening of Eight Short Documentaries on Friday, August 27

Mountainfilm on Tour Southampton brings a selection of culturally rich, adventure-packed, and inspiring documentary films curated by the Mountainfilm festival in Telluride, Colorado. Southampton Arts Center [SAC – southamptonartscenter.org] will screen eight selected Mountainfilm on Tour Southampton short documentaries on the West Lawn on Friday, August 27 at 7:30 PM. The films explore themes connected to Mountainfilm’s mission of using the power of film, art, and ideas to inspired audiences to create a better world.

Mountainfilm on Tour Southampton is hosted by Elyn and Jeff Kronemeyer, in partnership with Brown Harris Stevens, and sponsored, in part, by Dr. Paula Angelone and Gerald Rosengarten. Elyn Kronemeyer, who also serves on SAC’s board of directors, has been organizing the tour for seven years, working with SAC to bring thought-provoking documentary films to the East End community.

“This year’s films were selected to offer a glimpse into the lives of courageous people from around the world,” shares Elyn Kronemeyer. “Through their passion and commitment, they have confronted fears, doubts and naysayers to make an extraordinary impact on the lives of others. From little Jésùs who braves a gauntlet of obstacles to shepherd his sister to school in a Mexican slum, to Ansil Saunders who guided Martin Luther King, Jr. on a fishing trip just days before King was assassinated in 1968, audiences will be captivated by these stories. My goal in presenting these films is to inspire each of us to do just one thing that we dream to do but hold back out of fear or doubt.”

This year’s film lineup includes 199 Little Heroes: Jésùs from Mexico, A Concerto is a Conversation, God’s Plant, Facets, Whales Without Walls, Ten Thousand Bolts, Mighty Waters, and Golden Age Karate. The cost is $10 for SAC members and $15 for non-members. The films will be screened on SAC’s West Lawn and attendees are asked to bring their own beach chair or blanket. More information and tickets can be found at southamptonartscenter.org/film.
